Carlo Maria (Milan, Italy)
Carlo Maria Amadio is an Italian composer and performer of electronic music based in Milan. His music is influenced both by minimalism and contemporary club culture related music genres. The feedback process between humans and machines in music making, considered as a primary trigger not only for creativity but also for a wider knowledge of the self, is one of the main inspiration of his sonic research. He released his first EP “Subject to Drift” on SØVN records (May, 2016), “Kenk!” (August, 2017) and “Doppio” (February, 2019) on Brutaż. Since 2017 he is part of Punctum, a collaborative project with Caterina Barbieri. Punctum’s debut album “Remote Sensing” (May, 2017) has been released on Berlin’s imprint SUMME and presented live at Nowhere Festival (IT) and The Long Now, MaerzMusik (DE).
His music has been described as “a story of a blossoming romance, like when decontextualised acid met with relentless tension and they hopped into a hypercube. Here, Carlo Maria uses a pointillist diablerie to extract a loud mixture of droney melancholy and rhythmic euphoria. After releasing a blissful record with Caterina Barbieri on Σ (as Punctum), Carlo chooses the path of reduction and force. “Kenk!” lays hold of you and makes you move somewhere. Quickly, but with no intended direction. Yes, it’s made for the dancefloors – you just have to trust us on this one.” (Brutaż).
Bill + Morah
Having just formed a creative coalition, Bill + Morah are a sui generis duet that shares the right to ignorance and not knowing. By amalgamating synthwave, kraut riddims with emotionally temperamental vocal elements they attempt to bring closer two seemingly distant planetary systems. Under the name Bill Anagnos lies Efthimis Theodossis, ½ of the dub duo of Free Piece of Tape and an active member of the Athenian underground for almost twenty years. Since 2015 he has been performing as Bill Anagnos, a fictional hero with excellent skills in handling various vehicles. With the naivety and imagination of a young child he composes music with intense elements of fluidity, persistence and memory. Characteristic elements in his compositions are vinyl records and analog synthesizers delivering his dub, kraut rock and synthwave influences.
Born and raised in Athens, Morah is reproduced by the energy of the city. His involvement with electronic music began at a very young age, as a way of escaping an oppressive environment of silence and even before acquiring his own musical equipment, he begun experimenting by mingling sounds from discman(s) and old FM radios. Morah connects to rough, noisy and industrial-sounding landscapes and his latest body of work is expected to be released on his own imprint, Phormix Tapes.
RETE + Spyros Emmanouilidis
RETE consist of Savvas Metaxas (Inverz, Good Luck Mr. Gorsky) and Vasilis Liolios (Eventless Plot). Using modular synths, field recordings, objects, drum machines, voice and sounds from percussion surfaces they seek the interconnection between silence and tension, rhythm and non-rhythm aiming to create electroacoustic semi-compositions.
During this period they are recording and finalizing their first LP, which will be co-released on Granny Records and To Pikap Records while on the 29th of November they will be performing on stage, for the first time, with Spyros Emmanouilidis especially for Panorila III.
Manos Saklas
Manos Saklas is a student at ASFA (Athens School of Fine Arts) and a multidisciplinary artist, primarily working with compositions and sound installations as well as prints, drawings and writings. His body of work incorporates post-war compositional developments, along with electro-acoustic and electronic music vocabulary, focusing on generative aesthetics and new materialities.
In his compositions, he explores themes like pattern generation, repetition, synthetic sound, auditory perception and other computer music techniques, often using random processes as basis.
Common Room, Xaviera Kouvara
Common room explores our increased connectedness through the ubiquity of handheld cameras in relation to our sense of privacy and exposure. The reality of blurred lines between physical and digital space and the culture of public visibility that dominate everyday life, naturalize surveillance and reveal social behaviours nurturing the surrender of privacy.
Common room is an assemblage of everyday stories of passers-by in New York and Athens through the lens of an iPhone. Xaviera Kouvara (Instagram: @fouskaboo) creates anthropocentric imagery inspired by everyday life and the impact of the digital age on it.
*An after party line up with DJ sets by Monokini Beat, Terra Exotica, Bora Bora and K.atou will follow at the basement area of Romantso with free admission (View the Facebook event here).
