Straight from the outskirts of Brussels, Venezuelan ancestral trance tripper Bear Bones Lay Low aka Ernesto Gonzalez will be presenting his upcoming release on Orila “Ses Kondi” (Orl30) live in Romantso. A little earlier, Turbo Teeth with his obsessively distorted, cerebral approach to cut-up electronic sound and Yiannis Despotakis on an experientially improvised solo, taking us on a trip from Greece to the vast steppes of Mongolia.

Bear Bones, Lay Low
For over a decade, this Venezuelan now long-time based in Belgium, has been creating psychedelic electronic sound by juxtaposing digital and analog sources. Using repetitive melodies and rhythms combined with dissonant sounds, BBLL wishes to induce a multilayered trance that allows solemn listening as well as ecstatic dancing in a mental space where the archaic meets the futuristic, where the earthly meets the cosmic. His live performances have attracted many music fans from different horizons, allowing him to play in varied contexts ranging from strictly experimental music festivals like Échos in the valleys of Le Saix, to open-minded night-clubs such as Salon des Amateurs in Düsseldorf or Contact Club in Tokyo and everything in between. As an active musician in Belgium’s experimental underground he has also been part of numerous free music outfits including the late Silvester Anfang/Sylvester Anfang II and is currently active with the electronic duo Tav Exotic amongst other projects. With releases on different labels such as Kraak, Ekster, Lullabies for Insomniacs and BAKK, the Rush Hour affiliated No Label series, his most recent material will be released on Orila.

Turbo Teeth
Turbo Teeth is the solo project by Giorgos Axiotis, member of Free Piece of Tape, Tom Cruisin’, Balinese Beast, Holefold. The highly idiosyncratic, unstable and addictive sound of T.T eventuates in transient deca-dance vignettes and consists of dysfunctional & fast tempo sliding cut-up rhythms, mangled loops, gonjo dance fantasies, dental hop dreams, and mutated mover spins. His most complete work until now, the vinyl EP Yellow Equals One, was released by Untitled-1 on late October 2017. Recently a cover version of the EP has also been released with contributions from Bill Anagnos, Echo Canyon, Sister Overdrive and Elisabet Vogler (Panos Alexiadis).

Yiannis Despotakis
Born (naturally) in Athens/Greece. His origins lay inside the triangle that unites Piraeus, Crete and Istanbul. From a very young age he showed that he had great appeal with hitting and banging all kinds of surfaces, by discovering a pair of chopsticks in his mother’s kitchen. He has received clinics and lessons from many remarkable human beings, each one playing a catalytic role in his so far course of discovering his true self. Milestones throughout his so far life have been: a) Amsterdam where he decides to dedicate himself to musical expression, starts becoming a sound giver-digger and not a sound receiver (a.k.a sound engineer) and starts making his first steps as a drummer, performer as well as a busker-street musician. b) Berlin where he gets to meet with performers, improvisers and get in touch with a social current that over shook him having as a result to remain over shocked ever since .c) Athens and the Music Village in Pelion – Athens is the birth city and base of Yiannis Despotakis and Music Village in mount Pelion is where some of the most essential things where forged and still are growing stronger and stronger. One of the things that have radically helped his psycho synthesis is getting involved for the past 12 years with traditional Mongolian singing (aka overtone singing – Khoomei ) because it purifies and crystallizes all the inner energy channels (aka chakras) . In 2007 he met with the remarkable Hayden Chisholm (Nzl) and the fall inside the rabbit hole began. Since 2009, Hayden and Yiannis work strongly together. In December 2017 they had their first album release as a duet. The flame is rocking strong and the rabbit hole gets deeper and deeper. From early 2013 along with soul brother Don Stavrinos (Gr) they give concerts of free Biomatic (anc.greek BIOS=LIFE ,experiential) improvisation either as a duet or in larger ensembles. The source of their inspiration is the street and reality itself. They call it “Meating for Business”. Along with the family of Aghios Lavrentios Brass Band – the only brass band in the world with no actual brass that was forged in Mount Pelion during Music Village – they‘ve been “bombing” audiences around the Earth since 2009 with pure global Balkan-ic New Orleans Horn-y Greek music and pure love. He gives workshops regarding: traditional mongolian overtone singing – vocal and mind liberation – experiential improvisation. Within the continuous transformation of the “form” he remains a continuous investigator of the true sound of his existential discoveries.
