Content
The self-titled album of Savvas Metaxas is primarily based on the ‘dark energy’ semi-modular analog synthesizer and manipulated field recordings. These eponymous compositions were originally built around the idea of live-playing sessions and after their initial recording, additional edits were produced. The entire record was conceived and completed in two time intervals, during the summer of 2012 in Thessaloniki and Asprovalta, under extreme meteorological conditions.
Background
Born and raised in Thessaloniki, Metaxas is a self-taught musician who started playing the electric guitar in various groups before forming ‘Good Luck Mr. Gorsky’. Better aknowledged for his work as ‘inverz’, he gradually shifted to the use of synths and field-recordings as sound tools, rather than instruments. To date, Savvas Metaxas has released four albums (as inverz), while his self titled Cd-r on Orila is a new approach to less grounded, textural-like, meta kosmiche compositions. He is also active with the ‘Granny Records’ label, publishing works of contemporary Greek musicians.
