Yas, Farsi for jasmine, is a collection of 8 pieces put together over a two week residency at Duster Valentine’s abode in Athens at the end of summer 2019. Young Richard Harris aka Sockethead hinted toward his taste in 90’s Detroit and other electronic styles, a palette was born from a few synths and he thus set about creating his own very modern, personal take on a bygone era, overdubbing effects and layering new parts along the way.

The music moves from downbeat dub, hints through pacey electronica, melting disco informed dance to discombobulated ambience fit for an Adam Curtis dialog, held together by Sockethead’s affecting touch.

Alongside writing, producing and performing Sockethead makes drawings, videos, holds one-off cookery evenings and has just issued his first offering on “Poetry” a new label recently set up to release his own music alongside projects by others in his orbit.
